🏳️‍🌈✝️ Pray without Ceasing

December 3, 2017

Ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. – 1 Thessalonians 5:15-17

It seems the days fly by so fast, and that I am forever running. Drop the kids at daycare, hurry to work, then pick up the kids and take them to their practices. Dinner! I rush to the store and stare at the shelves, hoping some divine hand will put a meal in a box that everyone will like.
“Pray without ceasing.” That sounds nice, but when is there time for prayer in such busy days? Here are some ideas:

When you are sitting in traffic, waiting for a green light or for a car up ahead to make a turn, take a moment to whisper a prayer. “Lord, keep that person safe today. Whatever problems he or she may be facing, make it clear that You are in control.”

After you turn into a parking lot and find it is nearly full, and then you trudge to the entrance and pass the empty handicapped parking spaces, say, “Dear Lord, keep Your hand on the person who parks there next. Give that one a special blessing and courage to face his or her daily trials.”

As you stand in line to check out your groceries, look in your cart. “Lord, there are farmers losing their land and homes. Help them to hold tight to their faith and give them Your strength.” For the cashier, pray, “Lord, You know the situation that one is facing. Make that person a blessing to whoever comes through this checkout line.” When you see the young person gathering carts in the parking lot, “Lord, help this one to look to You while making choices for the future.”

No matter where we go or what we are doing, we want to have a spirit of prayer and to remember to call on God for every need that arises. When you pillow your head at night, there will be a smile as you ask God to remember all those prayers you prayed during the day.
