“I’ve loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love.” John 15:9 (MSG)
How do we know that we love Jesus? When we love Him with all our heart, soul and strength, it positively impacts the way we live. In response, we live by His Word ― when we incline our ears and hearts to His point of view rather than our own opinions, even when we don’t “feel” like it.

Do we live by His Word because we are so good? None of us are so good. Only God is good. In His goodness, God allows Christ to redeem us. He grants us a position in right standing by grace (undeserved favor), because we believe and accept Him as our Lord and Savior. When we let go of all our worries, burdens, and weaknesses, and drop them at His feet, it lightens us. When we cultivate a relationship with Him, we can trust and rest in His love even when we don’t understand His plan.

How do we show we love Jesus? Sometimes it’s not how much we do, rather the heart condition that matters more to Jesus. When He gets to push back darkness and shine as bright as a star through us, it honors Him.

Let’s have a grateful heart for wherever we’re at in life, and for what Jesus has already done for us. Being thankful for the people we currently have in our lives assists us in functioning from a loving heart. A thankful heart chooses to dwell on what’s beautiful rather than what’s imperfect. When we love others, it pleases Jesus.

Father God, thank you for loving us enough to send Jesus to save us. Jesus, I appreciate what you have done for me, and I thank you so much for that. Please help me to please you by walking in love with you and with others, in your name, Jesus, that I ask. Amen.

Go Deeper — As Christmas approaches, how are you finding the condition of your heart? Is Jesus the real reason we want to do things? Is there a way to simplify life so you can make time to purposefully spend with God and realign your heart to His?
