🏳️‍🌈✝️ Another Look

I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil. – Psalm 119:162

On a warm summer afternoon, I worked my way down a row of bush beans, lifting and pushing the sticky leaves out of my way as I looked for beans that were big enough to harvest. I had already been down the row, but after a closer look I realized that I had missed almost as many beans as I had already picked. The wide leaves hid them from me, and they blended in with the plant stems.

As I worked away, the Lord reminded me of the importance of daily reading and searching His Word. Sometimes, though I have read it before, a portion of Scripture will suddenly come alive for me all over again and have a particularly significant meaning for that very moment. Messages that were not apparent to me before will be revealed by God as I dig deeper into His Word. During times when I have been concerned or bewildered, God has helped me to discover many Bible promises that encouraged me. For every need, He has the fulfillment.
At other times, when I am studying a certain topic, I can always find answers to my questions in His Word. A neighbor of mine once challenged the experience of sanctification, saying, “No human being can be holy.” In response, I delved into the Bible again and the reality of holiness became settled in my mind. Scripture is a fundamental way for God to speak to us, and His communication is clear. Oh, how I love the bounty of God’s Word!

It is exciting to open God’s Word and know that He has something new that He wants to show us. It might be a lesson, a word of encouragement, guidance, or a promise. Each time we come to Him, there is more to receive. Let us make it a habit to search His Word often, so that we do not miss any of the blessings waiting for us there.

Today, Lord, help me to push aside all of the cares and concerns crowding themselves into my day, and to harvest food for my soul. Amen.
