“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” Psalm 19:1-4
It was early in the morning; I was thousands of miles away from home walking on a beach, deeply burdened and pouring my heart out to God. Just before I stepped on the flight to a conference in Thailand, I received some very distressing news from one of my adult children. Through tears, I asked God for help.
God did reply ― and I listened. It was not audible but His answer was clear. It was as if God told me, “Look at the waves. Think of the tides. Just as I order the waves and tides, do you think I can order care for you and your family?”
Paul, writing to the church in Rome said, “For since the creation of the world His [God’s] invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made...” (Romans 1:20). In context, Paul is declaring that each person is without excuse before God’s judgement because God has spoken so clearly through his creation. God’s creation testifies of the character and nature of the Creator.
In fact, we are told many times in Scripture to consider the stars (Isaiah 40:26), the birds (Matthew 6:26), and the wild flowers (Luke 12:27) — each is teaching a lesson about God power, faithfulness and provision.
When you cry out to God, do you hear Him answering you? Are you listening? It may be that the sky, the birds of the air, the flowers in the field, or even the ocean waves contain His response.
God, you are the creator, the master architect. You put the stars in space. By your design I am declared to be beautifully and wonderfully made. You have all the blueprints. There is nothing too hard, too complicated that you cannot order. I place myself, my life, and my circumstances into your hands. I release my grip to your masterful touch. Thank you, I trust you. Amen.
Go Deeper — Think about the most significant issues in your life. Now reflect on God’s ability to order the universe or design something as amazing as the human body. Do you hear the stars and cells of your body speaking? They are all saying God is big, good and powerful; He can handle everything you give over to Him. Are you listening?
