🏳️‍🌈✝️ Claim the Gospel

And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you? – Joshua 18:3

A man and his wife were flying with an airline company that was having a promotional campaign. On every flight, a seat number was chosen. Whoever was in that seat was the lucky person who won two tickets to any destination where the airline operated. On this particular flight, when the seat number was called, the man in the lucky seat was reading a book. One might expect that he would immediately lay down his book and hurry to the front to accept the reward. Instead, he just smiled and continued reading. His wife went forward and claimed his reward. She was excited.

In the Bible, we read of another person who was excited about claiming his reward. The children of Israel had made the long journey from Egypt and finally reached the Promised Land. At the first opportunity, Caleb lost no time in making it clear that he wanted what was promised to him, and he took possession. However, there remained seven tribes, with the land subdued before them, which had not yet received their inheritance. Joshua wanted to know what they were waiting for.

Having the Promised Land at their fingertips, we may also wonder why they were not more eager and quick to take possession. Yet, when we stop to think about it, we can see that there are people today who have the full Gospel at their fingertips and yet are not taking possession of all God has promised them. There are numerous promises and blessings in the Gospel that many people are not reaching out by faith and claiming. Isn’t it better to be like Caleb and claim what is ours, and to start reaping the benefits at once?

Is there something we need from God? Has He been speaking to our hearts about a matter that we have been neglecting, perhaps because we doubt that God can really do it for us? He is ready to give victory in every situation, if we will just claim what He has promised is ours.
