The fight against evil plays itself out before our eyes every day.
Wars in the Middle East, nuclear weapons in North Korea and crime on
city streets. While those headline-catching woes get our attention,
subtle evils go almost unnoticed all around us.
In this segment of The Beat, host Allen Parr outlines the seven
covert strategies Satan uses to hinder you from being your true self.
Parr quotes 1 Peter 5.8 saying, “Your enemy the devil prowls around
like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” Many don’t even
recognize the foul tricks used in his game of spiritual warfare. Parr
helps enlighten Christians by making you aware of the seven commonly
used devices to ensnare Christians.
The first secret the devil uses is simply “discouragement.” While
that may seem like an ordinary sad emotion, Parr has a different
understanding. By discouragement, Parr means that the devil tries to
remove “courage” from your heart. The trick is to remind you again and
again about the past mistakes that you have made.
To counter the devil, Parr encourages by pointing out that “there is a
reason the windshield is bigger than the rear view mirror.” In other
words, God wants you to focus on the good ahead of you.
Take a few moments to check out this video to find out the other six tricks and get some encouragement from The Beat!
