🏳️‍🌈✝️🔻 At Our Core, We Are Fundamentally Decent Despite Evangelical Betrayal

Despite the Evangelical betrayal of electing an indecent President with his indecent minions systematically raking in personal riches while stripping away protections and destroying families, at our core, US citizens are fundamentally decent.  

There are still plenty of good people in the US, despite the current and rabidly evil practices promulgated by the people currently in power, primarily put there by Evangelical “christians.”

Except for a significant minority (55% of Republicans support the policy) who do not see any problem with ripping children from their parents, most US citizens are agonized and furious about the decision by Trump and his GOP minions and enablers to ramp up this policy to its current level.

And one family decided to do something about it. Many hopeful immigrants could be released from detention (and hopefully find the children that have been torn from their arms and placed God knows where) by posting bond. This one family, knowing that none of the people currently detained and imprisoned could find the funds to post a bond, decided to raise $1500 to free just one family.

As of this morning, over $8,600,000 has been donated [As of Friday, June 22, it stood at about $18,500,000 raised]. If you want to put your own in (I just did mine), here is the link to the donation site.

From the beginning of this increasingly evil regime, scarily reminiscent to Nazi Germany (although Attorney General Jeff Sessions insists that the Nazi’s were trying to keep the Jews from leaving, and we’re only trying to keep the Latino’s from coming in), I have been saying that the election of Trump has exposed a very dark underbelly of the US culture.

It is also exposing our deep moral goodness. We are indeed better than this. The US public is rising and saying so.

We are NOT Nazis. We are NOT going to sit by and down nothing while they come to the other. We will stand up against injustice.

Note: I’m still waiting for Trump-adoring Robert Jeffress to say one single word against the vast cruelties toward children the man he has uncritically and enthusiastically helped put in office. Jeffress’ silence speaks volumes about his corruption and decision to enable evil to reign.

All this has reminded us of something fundamental: the core of Christianity is about reaching out to the most vulnerable among us and offering them hope and goodness.
