God didn’t set
us up for an angry rejection, He set us up for salvation by our Master Jesus
Christ. He died for us, a death that triggered life. Whether we’re awake with
the living or asleep with the dead, we’re alive with him! So speak
encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in
this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this;
just keep on doing it. 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 {MSG}

Quotes about
encouraging others
- “Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”
- “Be an encourager the world has plenty of critics already.” – Dave Willis
1Thessalonians
5:11 {AMP} “Therefore
encourage and comfort one another and build
up one another, just as you are doing...”
Hebrews
10:24-25 {AMP} “And
let us consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to
do good deeds, not forsaking our meeting together
[as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but
encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see
the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.”
Hebrews
3:13 {AMP} “But continually encourage one another every day, as long as it
is called “Today” [and there is an opportunity], so that none of you will be hardened
[into settled rebellion] by the deceitfulness of sin [its cleverness, delusive
glamour, and sophistication].”
2
Corinthians 13:11 {AMP} “Finally,
believers, rejoice! Be made complete [be what you should be], be comforted, be
like-minded, live in peace [enjoy the spiritual well-being experienced by
believers who walk closely with God]; and the God
of love and peace [the source of lovingkindness] will be with you.”
Acts 20:35 {AMP} “In everything I showed you [by example]
that by working hard in this way you must help the
weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed [and brings greater joy] to give than to receive.’”
2
Chronicles 30:22 {AMP} “Hezekiah spoke
encouragingly to
all the Levites who showed good understanding in the things of the Lord. So the people ate for the appointed
seven days, sacrificing peace offerings and giving thanks to the Lord God of their fathers.”
Titus 2:6 {AMP} “In a similar way urge the young men to be sensible and
self-controlled and to behave wisely [taking life seriously].”
Philemon
1:4-7 {AMP} “I
thank my God always, making mention of you in my prayers, because
I hear of your love and of your faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and
toward all the saints (God’s people). I pray that the sharing of your faith may
become effective and powerful because of your accurate knowledge
of every good thing which is ours in Christ. For I have had great joy and comfort and encouragement
from your love, because the hearts of the saints (God’s people) have been
refreshed through you, my brother.”
It is so encouraging and spirit lifting when you allow the
Holy Spirit to speak through you words of encouragement to those who need it.
When you take the time to let someone know how much they have encouraged, it
gives that other person a spiritual boost to keep on being the best encourager
that can be.
Encouraged to be an encourager
When the
trials in this life seem to be more that you can handle, remember to call on
your Heavenly Father who is there to help you overcome. We read in James
1:2-4 {AMP} that the
trials we face and overcome helps us to become more mature in our faith. As you
mature in your faith you will find it gets easier and easier to become the
encourager God wants you to be, as well as the who teaches others how to become
encouragers according to God’s will.
The Lord
continues to teach me through each experience in this life journey how to
connect with others in a way that they know and trust that I know exactly what
they are going through. If we have not experienced what the other person has
gone through it really makes it difficult to understand how they feel. However
we have the Holy Spirit who knows the heart of every man and woman who can help
us through those times of uncertainty.

Corinthians 1:3-4 {AMP} “Blessed
[gratefully praised and adored] be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, who
comforts and encourages us in every trouble so that we will be able to
comfort and encourage those who are in any kind of trouble, with
the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
Take the time to
reflect on what you have read today. It is God’s will that we not only
encourage others but that others encourage us too. Let God bring the encourager
into your life to help you be a better encourager.
