God didn’t set
us up for an angry rejection, He set us up for salvation by our Master Jesus
Christ. He died for us, a death that triggered life. Whether we’re awake with
the living or asleep with the dead, we’re alive with him! So speak
encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in
this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this;
just keep on doing it. 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 {MSG}

Encouraging others in silence
We should always be ready to encourage others in their times of need. However, we need to understand the situation so we know when to keep our mouths shut and just be there for them actively listening as they poor their hearts out to you. Listening can be the greatest gift you could give to someone.
We can find a good example of when to keep your mouth shut by looking at the situation with Job and his friends. They were actually doing right by being there for Job and should have just kept their mouths shut. We must learn to be just as good a listener as we are an encourager. Sometimes encouragement is best when silent. Example – when a friend has lost a loved one it would not be the best time to quote Romans 8:28 {AMP} to them.
And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. Romans 8:28 {AMP}
Job 2:11-13 {AMP} “Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this
adversity that had come upon him, each one came from his own place, Eliphaz the
Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite; for they had made an
appointment together to come to sympathize with him and to comfort him. When
they looked from a distance and did not recognize him [because of his
disfigurement], they raised their voices and wept; and each one tore his robe
[in grief] and they threw dust over their heads toward the sky [in sorrow]. So they sat down on the ground with Job for seven days
and seven nights and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his pain was
very great.”
Loving one another
Our encouragement has to come from a genuine place of love. If you do it for your own self-interest others will know you are not sincere and that you are just trying to flatter them. As a follower of Christ Jesus you should always want the best for others. Don’t be lazy with your love for others causing your encouragements to be half-hearted. When your encouragement of others seems like a burden then it is time to dig into the Words of Christ Jesus for a renewal of our hearts. Once you learn to give freely of yourself like Christ Jesus did for each of us the easier it will be to find joy in encouraging others.
Romans 12:9-14 {AMP} Love is to be sincere and active [the real thing—without guile and hypocrisy]. Hate what is evil [detest all ungodliness, do not tolerate wickedness]; hold on tightly to what is good. Be devoted to one another with [authentic] brotherly affection [as members of one family], give preference to one another in honor; never lagging behind in diligence; aglow in the Spirit, enthusiastically serving the Lord; constantly rejoicing in hope [because of our confidence in Christ], steadfast and patient in distress, devoted to prayer [continually seeking wisdom, guidance, and strength], contributing to the needs of God’s people, pursuing [the practice of] hospitality. Bless those who persecute you [who cause you harm or hardship]; bless and do not curse [them].

As you can see
from the Scripture if would have been best for you to keep your mouth shut at
that time. You just need to be a friend who sits with them and consoles them.

I pray these
lessons have shown you the importance of encouraging others. As I have said
before you never know what will set a person free from the current state they
are in by your presence with them or words of encouragement they need to hear.
When you let the Holy Spirit guide your way you will become a great encourager
for the Kingdom of God. Let the love from the Father above continually flow
from your heart to the hearts of others. Be ready at all times to be the best
encourager you can be through Christ Jesus.
Blessings and
Peace,
